Built for the Trade. Backed by Certification.
IGI Source was founded by industry veterans who believed the diamond trade deserved a better model — one built on direct manufacturer relationships, full traceability, and uncompromising certification standards.
Why We Built This.
For decades, the path from diamond manufacturer to jeweler ran through layers of brokers, middlemen, and opaque pricing. Buyers paid premiums for access they shouldn't have needed. Manufacturers lost margin to intermediaries who added no value to the stone.
IGI Source was built to change that. We spent three years building direct relationships with verified manufacturers across Surat, Antwerp, Tel Aviv, New York, Shanghai, and Moscow — vetting each one for IGI certification compliance, ethical sourcing, and production quality.
Today we connect professional jewelers, designers, and buyers directly with the people who cut their stones. No brokers. No markups for access. Just verified manufacturers, certified diamonds, and a direct line between buyer and maker.
Direct Access
We eliminate the broker layer entirely. Every manufacturer in our network is available for direct communication and negotiation.
Certification First
We list only IGI-certified stones. No exceptions. Every diamond in our network carries a valid IGI grading report.
Full Traceability
We document the chain of custody from rough to polished. Every stone can be traced back to its manufacturer and origin.
Ethical Sourcing
All natural diamond partners are Kimberley Process certified. Lab-grown partners submit full production chain documentation.
What IGI Certification Means.
The International Gemological Institute (IGI) is one of the world's largest and most respected independent gemological laboratories. An IGI certificate is a precise, objective assessment of a diamond's characteristics — issued by trained gemologists with no stake in the sale.
Evaluates how well the diamond's facets interact with light — proportions, symmetry, and polish. Cut is the primary driver of a diamond's brilliance.
Grades the absence of color on a D-to-Z scale. D is colorless; Z has noticeable yellow or brown tint. IGI uses controlled lighting and master comparison stones.
Assesses internal inclusions and external blemishes under 10x magnification. Grades range from Flawless (FL) to Included (I3).
Measures the diamond's weight. One carat equals 0.2 grams. IGI weighs to the nearest hundredth of a carat.
Notes whether the diamond emits visible light under UV. Reported as None, Faint, Medium, Strong, or Very Strong.
Documents table percentage, depth percentage, crown angle, pavilion angle, and girdle thickness — the geometry that determines optical performance.
From Rough to Report.
Rough Origin Documentation
Every natural diamond manufacturer in our network provides Kimberley Process certificates and rough origin documentation before listing on the platform.
Manufacturing Record
We maintain records of which cutting house produced each stone — the specific facility, location, and production date where applicable.
IGI Grading Submission
Stones are submitted to IGI for independent grading. The resulting certificate is the authoritative record of the stone's characteristics.
Certificate Verification
Every IGI certificate number in our system is verified against IGI's database before the stone is listed. We do not accept unverified or expired reports.
Direct Buyer Transfer
When a buyer sources a stone through IGI Source, the full documentation package — origin records, manufacturing provenance, and IGI certificate — transfers with the stone.
